Triathlon Total Knee System expansion; adds Size 0 femoral/tibial components, modified PS femoral component, and PSR tibial inserts. Components implanted during total knee arthroplasty; performed by orthopedic surgeons in hospital/surgical settings. Size 0 components accommodate smaller patient anatomy; modified PS box reduces anterior bone removal; PSR insert allows increased internal/external rotation in deep flexion. Device provides structural replacement of knee joint surfaces; restores joint function/stability. Clinical benefit: pain relief and improved mobility for patients with degenerative or traumatic knee conditions.
Clinical Evidence
No clinical data. Substantial equivalence supported by bench testing including fatigue testing of femoral/tibial components (ASTM F1800-12), static shear testing of locking mechanisms, contact area/stress analysis, range of motion analysis, and MR conditional evaluation.
Technological Characteristics
Components include femoral, tibial baseplate, and inserts. Materials consistent with predicate Triathlon system. Sterilization via Ethylene Oxide (EN ISO 11135:2014). MR Conditional. Size 0 components feature reduced dimensions; PS femoral component features reduced intercondylar box; PSR insert designed for increased rotation in deep flexion.
Indications for Use
Indicated for patients with painful, disabling knee joint disease (osteoarthritis, traumatic arthritis, avascular necrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, post-traumatic arthritis), post-traumatic loss of function, moderate varus/valgus/flexion deformity, revision of failed knee replacement, or distal femur/proximal tibia fractures. PS/TS components indicated for ligamentous instability, absent posterior cruciate ligament, or severe anteroposterior instability. Bone/cone augments indicated for bone loss or extensive resection/voids.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
A knee joint patellofemorotibial polymer/metal/polymer semi-constrained cemented prosthesis is a device intended to be implanted to replace a knee joint. The device limits translation and rotation in one or more planes via the geometry of its articulating surfaces. It has no linkage across-the-joint. This generic type of device includes prostheses that have a femoral component made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum, and a tibial component or components and a retropatellar resurfacing component made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. This generic type of device is limited to those prostheses intended for use with bone cement (§ 888.3027).

The size 0 subject components differ from the previously cleared predicate devices in terms of overall dimensions - the reduced dimensions are intended to allow the devices to be used in smaller patients. The new PS Femoral component features a reduced PS intercondylar box to allow less

bone removal anteriorly. The new PSR insert is designed to offer less resistance to internal/external rotation in deep flexion in patients who can achieve this range of motion.
## Non-Clinical Testing:
The following non-clinical testing was presented:

Previous testing performed to characterize the Tritanium surface was reviewed, and found to be applicable to the subject Triathlon Tritanium Tibial Baseplate.
The subject Triathlon components were evaluated to determine if these devices created a new worst case for image artifact, magnetically induced torque, magnetically induced displacement, and RF induced heating. These subject devices do not create a new worst case as compared to those Triathlon Total Knee components previously cleared in K172326. The subject devices are considered to be MR Conditional.
Additionally, contact area/contact stress and range of motion analysis was presented to support the update in range of motion for the Triathlon system.
Bacterial endotoxin testing (BET) as specified in ANSVAAMI ST72:2011 was used for pyrogenicity testing on the subject devices to achieve an Endotoxin limit of <20 EU/Device.
Clinical Testing: Clinical testing was not required as a basis for substantial equivalence.
Conclusion: The Triathlon® Total Knee System - Additional Components are substantially equivalent to the predicate devices identified in this premarket notification.
Device comparison showed that the proposed devices are substantially equivalent in intended use, materials, and performance characteristics to the predicate devices. The proposed modifications do not affect safety or effectiveness.

5. Side-by-side comparison
Select multiple rows in the results table (aim for under ~10), then open the PDF Viewer tab. Ask one question — it goes to all selected devices in parallel, each with citations. This is the fastest way to compare and contrast devices: training data, PCCP scope, how they handled adding new scanners, and so on.

6. Collections

7. Product codes and the regulations tree
Click a product code in the results to jump to it in the regulations tree — identification text, sibling product codes, and devices you can open in a PDF viewer on the right. Click a regulation number to see its identification, special controls, and related product codes. You can also search by product code or regulation number at the top of the tree. Always read the special controls if any exist for your device — it broadens your search and sharpens pre-kickoff research.

8. Chart view
Click Show Chart and segment by regulation number (or product code) to see which regulations dominate your result set. Clicking a regulation takes you into the regulations tree. Great for spotting that most matches are, say, hardware laparoscopic devices — a cue to go back and filter.

9. The predicate graph
Open the Predicates tab for a family-tree view of predicate relationships. Click a node to trace its parents and children; selections from search carry over pre-selected. 10. Embeddings: the galaxy map
The Embeddings tab plots every matching document in a 2-D "galaxy map" where semantically similar devices cluster together. Hover or click clusters to explore, and let AI label the clusters for you. Embeddings beat product codes for grouping: two devices can carry different product codes (LLZ vs. QIH) yet do the same thing — the embedding captures the meaning of the intended use and device story. This is also exactly how retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) works under the hood, and it makes a great visual on client calls.
