Indications for Use

Easycorrect is intended for use in situations where digital images acquired from fluoroscopic imaging systems without distortion are required. The corrected images may be either hard-copy or soft-copy. Examples of (but not limited to) such situations are: making stereotactic measurements for Radiation Treatment Planning Systems or reconstructing digital spotfilm series into composite (survey) images.

Device Story

EasyCorrect is a software option for the Philips Easy Vision Vascular Analysis workstation. It corrects geometric distortion in digital images acquired from fluoroscopic imaging systems. The process involves acquiring a calibration image using a grid phantom; the software compares the grid's actual geometric characteristics with the acquired image to calculate distortion parameters. These parameters are then applied to clinical images acquired under identical conditions to produce corrected images. The output, available as hard-copy or soft-copy, enables clinicians to perform accurate measurements comparable to conventional film-based images. It is used by healthcare professionals in clinical environments to support tasks like radiation treatment planning and composite image reconstruction.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data provided; bench testing only.

Technological Characteristics

Software-based image processing system for geometric distortion correction. Utilizes a grid phantom for calibration. Operates on the Philips Easy Vision Workstation platform. Connectivity includes digital image input from fluoroscopic systems.

Indications for Use

Indicated for use in clinical settings requiring distortion-free digital images from fluoroscopic imaging systems for applications such as stereotactic measurements for radiation treatment planning or reconstruction of digital spotfilm series.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A medical image management and processing system is a device that provides one or more capabilities relating to the review and digital processing of medical images for the purposes of interpretation by a trained practitioner of disease detection, diagnosis, or patient management. The software components may provide advanced or complex image processing functions for image manipulation, enhancement, or quantification that are intended for use in the interpretation and analysis of medical images. Advanced image manipulation functions may include image segmentation, multimodality image registration, or 3D visualization. Complex quantitative functions may include semi-automated measurements or time-series measurements.

Special Controls

*Classification.* Class II (special controls; voluntary standards—Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) Std., Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) Std., Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) Test Pattern).

EasyCorrect will support the creation of images acquired by a digital image intensifier based system that can be compared to conventional acquired images (cassette film). Thereby the same measurements can be performed on the digital acquired image as on the conventional acquired image. The EasyCorrect package will correct images for distortion through the following process: Calibration and clinical images are acquired according to acquisition protocols described in documentation delivered with the system. The calibration image will be acquired with a grid phantom included in the package. The software will compare the geometric characteristics of the calibration image (taken with the grid) with the actual geometrical characteristics of the grid. The difference(s) in geometrical characteristics between the two images is a measure of the distortion(s) in the digital acquired image. By applying the result of this calculation of distortion to clinical images taken under the same conditions as the calibration grid image, the clinical images can be corrected for the distortion(s) introduced by the digital technique. ## Intended Use: Easycorrect is intended for use in situations where digital images acquired from fluoroscopic imaging systems without distortion are required. The corrected images may be either hard-copy or soft-copy. Examples of (but not limited to) such situations are: making stereotactic measurements for Radiation Treatment Planning Systems or reconstructing digital spotfilm series into composite (survey) images. {2}------------------------------------------------ Image /page/2/Picture/0 description: The image shows the seal of the Department of Health & Human Services USA.
