Indications for Use

The Extremity Medical Calcaneal Osteotomy Device is intended for fixation of osteotomies of the calcaneus.

Device Story

Bone fixation system consisting of bracket and lag screws; includes surgical instruments for site preparation and delivery. Used by orthopedic surgeons in clinical settings to stabilize calcaneal osteotomies. Bracket available in heights 6mm-13mm. Operates via mechanical fixation to maintain bone alignment during healing. Benefits patient by providing structural support to bone segments post-osteotomy.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical testing was performed. Substantial equivalence is supported by non-clinical bench testing, specifically static and dynamic bending tests compared to predicate devices.

Technological Characteristics

Metallic bone fixation fastener system comprising a bracket and lag screws. Dimensions: bracket heights 6mm to 13mm. Mechanical fixation principle. Sterilization method not specified.

Indications for Use

Indicated for fixation of calcaneal osteotomies in patients requiring bone stabilization.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A smooth or threaded metallic bone fixation fastener is a device intended to be implanted that consists of a stiff wire segment or rod made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum and stainless steel, and that may be smooth on the outside, fully or partially threaded, straight or U-shaped; and may be either blunt pointed, sharp pointed, or have a formed, slotted head on the end. It may be used for fixation of bone fractures, for bone reconstructions, as a guide pin for insertion of other implants, or it may be implanted through the skin so that a pulling force (traction) may be applied to the skeletal system.
