Indications for Use
The ARROW® Reverse Shoulder Prosthesis is indicated for patients with severe shoulder arthropathy and a grossly deficient rotator cuff or a previously failed shoulder joint replacement with a grossly deficient rotator cuff. A functional deltoid muscle and adequate glenoid bone stock are necessary to use this device. The humeral stem is intended for cemented or cementless application while the metal-back glenoid baseplate is intended for cementless application with the addition of bone screws for fixation.
Device Story
The ARROW® Reverse Shoulder long keel and short keel glenoid base is a metal-back glenoid component for total reverse shoulder arthroplasty. It articulates with the previously cleared ARROW® Reverse Shoulder System (K112193). The device is implanted by a surgeon using dedicated instrumentation. The baseplate is designed for cementless fixation to the glenoid bone, supplemented by bone screws. By replacing the damaged joint surfaces, the device restores shoulder function in patients with rotator cuff deficiency. It is intended for use in a clinical/surgical setting.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. Performance established via cyclic mechanical testing protocol comparing subject device to predicate devices.
Technological Characteristics
Metal-back glenoid baseplate; titanium alloy construction; cementless fixation with bone screws; available in multiple sizes; designed for articulation with ARROW® Reverse Shoulder System; implanted using dedicated instrumentation.
Indications for Use
Indicated for patients with severe shoulder arthropathy and grossly deficient rotator cuff, or failed shoulder joint replacement with grossly deficient rotator cuff. Requires functional deltoid muscle and adequate glenoid bone stock.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
A shoulder joint metal/polymer semi-constrained cemented prosthesis is a device intended to be implanted to replace a shoulder joint. The device limits translation and rotation in one or more planes via the geometry of its articulating surfaces. It has no linkage across-the-joint. This generic type of device includes prostheses that have a humeral resurfacing component made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum, and a glenoid resurfacing component made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, and is limited to those prostheses intended for use with bone cement (§ 888.3027).
