Indications for Use

The proposed Allura Xper FD X-ray imaging systems with the SSD spacer removed and the currently marketed and predicate Allura Xper FD X-ray imaging systems with the SSD spacer mounted are indicated for use on human patients to perform: - Vascular, cardiovascular and neurovascular imaging applications, including diagnostic, interventional and minimally invasive procedures. This includes, e.g., peripheral, cerebral, thoracic and abdominal angiography, as well as PTAs, stent placements, embolisations and thrombolysis. - Cardiac imaging applications including diagnostics, interventional and minimally invasive procedures (such as PTCA, stent placing, atherectomies), pacemaker implantations, and electrophysiology (EP). - Non-vascular interventions such as drainages, biopsies and vertebroplasties procedures. Combined with a qualified, compatible Operating Room (OR) table, the Allura Xper FD OR Table X-ray imaging systems can be used for imaging in the hybrid OR within the applications domains neuro, vascular, non-vascular and cardiac. The OR table can also be used stand-alone for surgical use in the OR.

Device Story

Allura Xper FD series are X-ray imaging systems for diagnostic and interventional procedures. This modification involves removing the source-skin distance (SSD) spacer from the X-ray tube housing. Removal facilitates mounting of external mapping system frames (e.g., BioSense Webster CARTO) beneath the patient table for electrophysiology procedures, preventing interference with C-arc rotation. The system maintains a minimum SSD of 30 cm, complying with IEC 60601-2-43, IEC 60601-2-54, and 21 CFR 1020.32(g). Operated by clinicians in hybrid ORs or interventional suites, the system provides real-time X-ray imaging to guide minimally invasive interventions. Output is visualized by the physician to assist in navigation and procedural decision-making, potentially improving patient outcomes by enabling complex electrophysiology and vascular interventions.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. The manufacturer states that removal of the SSD spacer has no effect on the performance of the X-ray tube, collimator, flat solid-state detector, hardware, or software. No clinical data was required or provided.

Technological Characteristics

Angiographic X-ray system. Components include X-ray tube, collimator, and flat solid-state X-ray detector. Minimum source-skin distance (SSD) is 30 cm. Complies with IEC 60601-2-43 and IEC 60601-2-54. System is designed for integration with OR tables in hybrid surgical environments.

Indications for Use

Indicated for human patients requiring vascular, cardiovascular, neurovascular, or non-vascular imaging and interventional procedures, including angiography, stent placement, embolization, thrombolysis, PTCA, atherectomy, pacemaker implantation, electrophysiology, drainage, biopsy, and vertebroplasty.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

An angiographic x-ray system is a device intended for radiologic visualization of the heart, blood vessels, or lymphatic system during or after injection of a contrast medium. This generic type of device may include signal analysis and display equipment, patient and equipment supports, component parts, and accessories.
