Indications for Use

The aCL/aPS®FACS Kit is and assay for the semi-quantitative determination of antiphospholipid (anticardiolipin-aCL and antiphosphatidy/serine-aPS) antibodies to be used in the aid of the diagnosis of the Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS). APS is defined as a disorder of recurrent thrombosis, pregnancy loss and/or thrombocytopenia with persistent positive antiphospholipid tests.

Device Story

The aCL/aPS FACS Kit is an in vitro diagnostic assay used to detect antiphospholipid antibodies in patient samples. It aids in the clinical diagnosis of Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS). The device is intended for professional use in a clinical laboratory setting. By measuring the presence and levels of aCL and aPS antibodies, the assay provides information that clinicians use alongside clinical symptoms—such as thrombosis, pregnancy loss, or thrombocytopenia—to confirm an APS diagnosis. The output is a semi-quantitative result, which helps healthcare providers assess the risk and manage patients presenting with these specific clinical manifestations.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data provided in the document; determination based on 510(k) premarket notification review.

Technological Characteristics

In vitro diagnostic assay kit for semi-quantitative antibody detection. Specific materials, energy sources, and software details are not described in the provided documentation.

Indications for Use

Indicated for semi-quantitative determination of anticardiolipin (aCL) and antiphosphatidylserine (aPS) antibodies in patients suspected of having Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS), characterized by recurrent thrombosis, pregnancy loss, and/or thrombocytopenia.

Identification

A multiple autoantibodies immunological test system is a device that consists of the reagents used to measure by immunochemical techniques the autoantibodies (antibodies produced against the body's own tissues) in serum and other body fluids. Measurement of multiple autoantibodies aids in the diagnosis of autoimmune disorders (disease produced when the body's own tissues are injured by autoantibodies).
