IMMULITE Rubella Quantitative IgG is an in vitro diagnostic assay for use on the IMMULITE Automated Analyzer. Input: human serum samples. Principle: solid-phase, two-step chemiluminescent enzyme immunoassay. Process: patient sample and buffer incubated with rubella antigen-coated polystyrene beads; unbound serum removed via centrifugal wash; alkaline phosphatase-labeled anti-human IgG conjugate added; second centrifugal wash removes unbound conjugate; chemiluminescent substrate (phosphate ester of adamantyl dioxetane) added. Output: light emission measured by luminometer, proportional to rubella IgG concentration; quantitative result derived by interpolating signal against a master curve. Used in clinical laboratories by trained personnel. Results aid clinicians in assessing rubella immune status, particularly for pregnant women or those of childbearing age, to manage risks of congenital rubella syndrome.
Clinical Evidence
Clinical performance evaluated via comparison to CDC proficiency panels (n=100) and IMx assay (n=217 and n=200). Results showed 98% agreement with CDC; 88-93% agreement with IMx. Sensitivity ranged 90-98%; specificity 98-100%. Linear regression analysis performed on 322 samples.

Rubella virus serological reagents are devices that consist of antigens and antisera used in serological tests to identify antibodies to rubella virus in serum. The identification aids in the diagnosis of rubella (German measles) or confirmation of a person's immune status from past infections or immunizations and provides epidemiological information on German measles. Newborns infected in the uterus with rubella virus may be born with multiple congenital defects (rubella syndrome).

#### Summary and Explanation of the Device:
Rubella, also known as German measles, occurs throughout the world. The prodromal stage includes malaise and a low-grade fever, followed by characteristic lymphadenitis and finally a macular or maculopapular rash. While rubella is primarily an infection of children, rubella infections during the first trimester of pregnancy can result in congenital infections with disastrous consequences. Birth defects, such as deafness and/or congenital heart defects are the most common. Multiple defects such as mental retardation, cataracts and hepatosplenomegaly may also occur and contribute to death of the infant in the first year of life. Infants with congenital infections may secrete virus for up to two years. Contact with these children poses a risk to susceptible pregnant women
Clinical symptoms of rubella infection are frequently mild or nonspecific, making the infection difficult to diagnose clinically. For these reasons, pregnant women with an undiagnosed illness with rash should be evaluated for the possibility of an acute, primary rubella infection. While the virus can be cultured in viro, serology remains the principal means for establishing a clinical diagnosis of acquired rubella and congenital infections. As two-thirds of defects are not apparent at birth, it is recommended that children exposed in utero be monitored for clinical and serological status until school age
A rubella vaccine, introduced in 1969, has significantly lowered the incidence of both acute disease and congenital rubella syndrome. However, as the vaccination program may vary with geographical location and as the level of immunity provided by the vaccination is not always adequate, pregnant women of child-bearing age are routinely screened for immune status.
The presence of rubella antibodies indicates a previous vaccination or infection and is indicative of presumptive immunity Patients suspected of having primary, acute rubella infection should be tested for the presence of IgM antibodies.

The chemiluminescent substrate, a phosphate ester of adamantyl dioxetane, undergoes hydrolysis in the presence of alkaline phosphatase to vield an unstable intermediate. The continuous production of this intermediate results in the sustained emission of light, thus improving precision by providing a window for multiple reading. The bound complex - and thus the photon output, as measured by the luminometer - is proportional to the presence of rubella IgG in the sample A quantitative result is then obtained by interpolating the adjusted signal response in the master curve.
In the IMx Rubella IgG assay, the patient sample and diluent buffer are added to the predilution well of a reaction cell. Rubella virus coated microparticles and the diluted sample are added to an incubation well. The Rubella antibody binds to the Rubella virus coated microparticles, forming an antigen-antibody complex. Diluent buffer is added to the reaction mixture and an aliquot of the antigen-antibody complex is transferred to the glass fiber matrix. The microparticles bind irreversibly to the glass fiber matrix. The matrix is washed to remove unbound materials. The anti-human IgG/alkaline phosphatase conjugate is dispensed onto the matrix and binds to the antigen-antibody complex. Finally, the matrix is washed to remove unbound materials, the substrate, 4-Methylumbellifery] Phosphate, is added to the matrix, and the fluorescent product is measured by the optical assembly

1. Search: exact and fuzzy
Type a phrase like "coronary artery calcification" into the search box. You get two kinds of results. Exact results match the literal phrase — prefix searches work ("coronary artery calcificati") but suffix searches do not. Fuzzy results match on the meaning and intent of your phrase rather than the exact words, and are sorted by relevance score. Hover over the Exact or Fuzzy badge on any row to see exactly why it matched.

What does the AI Performance sub-table show, and why is it useful?
Output name, acceptance criteria, observed values, development dataset description, and test dataset description. It's the same format we use for regulatory strategy output and Fast 510(k) input, and the fastest high-level fingerprint of an AI device. AI-generated but reliable in practice.
3. Judging fuzzy relevance
Fuzzy results trail off in relevance as you scroll. Use three signals to decide how far down to go: the fuzzy badge explanations, the intended use column, and whether your target output (e.g., Cobb angle) still appears in the AI Performance sub-table. Once it stops appearing, you're past the relevant zone. A top hit with a low score (~0.4) and a stretched explanation is a hint the closest predicates are far away — the project may be headed for De Novo. Note the fuzzy search is a pattern match: it doesn't handle negation ("not") well, and hardware devices can appear — filter by SaMD/AI ML to cut them.
How do you judge how far down fuzzy search results to go?
Use the relevancy signals: the fuzzy badge explanations, the intended use column, and whether the target output (e.g., Cobb angle) still appears in the AI Performance sub-table. Once it stops appearing, results are trailing off in relevancy.
4. Device detail page: chat and citations
Click a device name to open its detail page: device facts on the left, a chat window on the right. Ask something like "Describe the training data". The answer carries little citation bubbles — click one to jump to the highlighted passage in the source PDF, so you can verify every AI answer against the document. There's also a Download PDF button for sharing.

At least the three most relevant 510(k) or De Novo summaries, in full. After that, use targeted chat questions to confirm your memory quickly. The tool supports this professional habit — it doesn't replace it.
5. Side-by-side comparison
Select multiple rows in the results table (aim for under ~10), then open the PDF Viewer tab. Ask one question — it goes to all selected devices in parallel, each with citations. This is the fastest way to compare and contrast devices: training data, PCCP scope, how they handled adding new scanners, and so on.

6. Collections

7. Product codes and the regulations tree
Click a product code in the results to jump to it in the regulations tree — identification text, sibling product codes, and devices you can open in a PDF viewer on the right. Click a regulation number to see its identification, special controls, and related product codes. You can also search by product code or regulation number at the top of the tree. Always read the special controls if any exist for your device — it broadens your search and sharpens pre-kickoff research.

8. Chart view

9. The predicate graph
Open the Predicates tab for a family-tree view of predicate relationships. Click a node to trace its parents and children; selections from search carry over pre-selected. Commonly predicated devices are worth reading — a lot of people predicated them for a reason. The visual lineage is also handy on client calls, e.g. to show how a predicate family evolved and justify why your predicate still holds.

10. Embeddings: the galaxy map
The Embeddings tab plots every matching document in a 2-D "galaxy map" where semantically similar devices cluster together. Hover or click clusters to explore, and let AI label the clusters for you. Embeddings beat product codes for grouping: two devices can carry different product codes (LLZ vs. QIH) yet do the same thing — the embedding captures the meaning of the intended use and device story. This is also exactly how retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) works under the hood, and it makes a great visual on client calls.
