Indications for Use
The Sandoz Nutrition #0888000 Gastrostomy/Jejunostomy Feeding Tube is intended for use with patients who require delivery of enteral feeding formulas directly into the small bowl (jejunum). The Sandoz Nutrition #088000 Gastrostomy/Jejunostomy Feeding Tube is intended for use with patients who require enteral feeding. Indications for such medical and post-surgical treatments may include surgical problems, prolonged artificial ventilation, central nervous system trauma, and others. The placement of the device in patients is accomplished surgically using standard surgical techniques. The Sandoz Nutrition #0888000 Gastrostomy/Jejunostomy Feeding Tube also provides for the evacuation of gastric contents through the gastrostomy tube while simultaneously feeding directly into the small bowl with the jejunal feeding tube.
Device Story
Surgical kit for gastrostomy/jejunostomy feeding; enables simultaneous enteral feeding into jejunum and gastric drainage. Device consists of gastrostomy tube and jejunal feeding tube. Placement performed surgically via laparotomy/Stamm technique. Jejunal tube manipulated through pylorus into small intestine using bolus tip and stylet. Subject device features modified stylet (semi-rigid plastic tube with inflatable distal cuff/balloon) to assist in grasping/directing tube tip. Y-connector assembly modified to 3-part design. Output is enteral delivery and gastric decompression. Used in clinical/surgical settings by physicians. Benefits include improved nutrient absorption and reduced aspiration risk.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. No clinical data provided. Equivalence based on identical materials, bonding methods, and functional performance compared to predicate.
Technological Characteristics
Kit includes gastrostomy and jejunal feeding tubes. Materials and bonding methods identical to predicate. Features 3-part Y-connector assembly and semi-rigid plastic stylet with inflatable distal cuff/balloon. Placement confirmed via x-ray or fluoroscopy. ISO 9001 certified manufacturing.
Indications for Use
Indicated for patients requiring enteral feeding or delivery of formula/medications directly into the jejunum, including those with surgical problems, prolonged artificial ventilation, or CNS trauma. Used to enhance nutrient absorption and minimize risks of gastric reflux and aspiration.
