Indications for Use

The Integrity Bone Staple Fixation System is indicated for the fixation of soft tissue grafts or reinforcement meshes to bone during rotator cuff repairs.

Device Story

Integrity Retractable Implant Inserter is a sterile, single-use surgical instrument; used by surgeons during rotator cuff repair procedures. Device delivers PEEK bone staples to secure soft tissue grafts or reinforcement meshes to bone. Operation involves manual manipulation by the clinician to deploy the staple. Device functions as a line extension to the existing Integrity Bone Staple Fixation System; provides mechanical delivery of fixation implants. Benefits include secure attachment of soft tissue to bone, facilitating surgical repair.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data was provided. Substantial equivalence was demonstrated through non-clinical bench testing, including biocompatibility (cytotoxicity, sensitization, irritation, acute systemic toxicity, material-mediated pyrogenicity), mechanical performance testing, and bacterial endotoxin testing per USP <85>.

Technological Characteristics

Sterile, single-use manual surgical instrument. Materials include stainless steel and polymer resins. Sterilization via Gamma radiation. 1-year shelf-life. Mechanical delivery mechanism for PEEK bone staples. Complies with USP <85> for endotoxin limits.

Indications for Use

Indicated for fixation of soft tissue grafts or reinforcement meshes to bone during rotator cuff repairs in adult patients.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A smooth or threaded metallic bone fixation fastener is a device intended to be implanted that consists of a stiff wire segment or rod made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum and stainless steel, and that may be smooth on the outside, fully or partially threaded, straight or U-shaped; and may be either blunt pointed, sharp pointed, or have a formed, slotted head on the end. It may be used for fixation of bone fractures, for bone reconstructions, as a guide pin for insertion of other implants, or it may be implanted through the skin so that a pulling force (traction) may be applied to the skeletal system.
