Indications for Use

The catheter is intended for intracardiac and intra-luminal visualization of cardiac and great vessel anatomy and physiology as well as visualization of other devices in the heart of adult and pediatric patients. The catheter is intended for imaging guidance only, not treatment delivery, during cardiac interventional percutaneous procedures.

Device Story

13.5F, 90 cm, four-way steerable ultrasound catheter; provides real-time 2D and 3D intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) images. Used by clinicians during percutaneous cardiac interventions for visualization of anatomy and devices. Manual steering knobs on handle control distal tip deflection in two planes (left/right, posterior/anterior). Device connects to ultrasound system for image processing and display. Output assists physician in procedural guidance; improves visualization of cardiac structures and interventional tools. Single-use; EtO sterilized.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data submitted. Substantial equivalence established via bench testing, including acoustic output, biocompatibility, sterilization, packaging, shelf life, and thermal/electrical/mechanical safety testing per recognized standards (ISO 10993-1, IEC 60601-2-37, etc.).

Technological Characteristics

13.5F diameter, 90 cm length, 4-way manual steering. 96-channel acoustic array on ASIC. EtO sterilization. Biocompatibility per ISO 10993-1. Complies with ANSI/AAMI ES 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, and IEC 60601-2-37. Single-use.

Indications for Use

Indicated for intracardiac and intra-luminal visualization of cardiac and great vessel anatomy, physiology, and other devices in adult and pediatric patients during cardiac interventional percutaneous procedures. Imaging guidance only; not for treatment delivery.

Regulatory Classification

You may, therefore, market the device, subject to the general controls provisions of the Act. Although this letter refers to your product as a device, please be aware that some cleared products may instead be combination products. The 510(k) Premarket Notification Database available at https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfpmn/pmn.cfm identifies combination product submissions. The general controls provisions of the Act include requirements for annual registration, listing of devices, good manufacturing practice, labeling, and prohibitions against misbranding and adulteration. Please note: CDRH does not evaluate information related to contract liability warranties. We remind you, however, that device labeling must be truthful and not misleading. If your device is classified (see above) into either class II (Special Controls) or class III (PMA), it may be subject to additional controls. Existing major regulations affecting your device can be found in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21, Parts 800 to 898.
