Indications for Use

DELPHI System is indicated for coagulation and ablation of tissue and hemostasis of blood vessels during arthroscopic surgery. DELPHI System is designed for exclusive use with DELPHI PLUS or DISCORE bipolar electrode.

Device Story

DELPHI System is a bipolar, high-frequency electrosurgical device for arthroscopic surgery. System comprises DELPHI II generator, power cables, footswitches, and DELPHI PLUS/DISCORE bipolar electrodes. Generator delivers radiofrequency energy for soft tissue ablation (vaporization) and coagulation. Operator selects functional modes (PETTIE or GRANDE) via front panel. Electrodes are foot-controlled, sterile, single-use devices. System operates in saline. Used by surgeons in arthroscopic procedures to achieve tissue ablation and hemostasis. Output affects clinical decision-making by enabling precise tissue management and bleeding control during surgery, potentially reducing procedure time and improving surgical outcomes.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data; bench testing only.

You may, therefore, market the device, subject to the general controls provisions of the Act. Although this letter refers to your product as a device, please be aware that some cleared products may instead be combination products. The 510(k) Premarket Notification Database available at https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfpmn/pmn.cfm identifies combination product submissions. The general controls provisions of the Act include requirements for annual registration, listing of devices, good manufacturing practice, labeling, and prohibitions against misbranding and adulteration. Please note: CDRH does not evaluate information related to contract liability warranties. We remind you, however, that device labeling must be truthful and not misleading. If your device is classified (see above) into either class II (Special Controls) or class III (PMA), it may be subject to additional controls.
