Device Story
OsteoFab® Suture Anchors are single-procedure implants for reattaching soft tissue to bone; used in shoulder, knee, hand, wrist, elbow, and foot/ankle surgeries. Device consists of PEKK polymer anchor, manufactured via proprietary additive manufacturing process; available in 4.5mm, 5.5mm, and 6.5mm sizes. Surgeon mounts anchor on custom inserter, threads with suture, and deploys into bone via interference fit. Device provides mechanical fixation of soft tissue to bone, facilitating healing. Used in clinical settings by orthopedic surgeons. Benefits include secure soft tissue reattachment using biocompatible PEKK material.

A smooth or threaded metallic bone fixation fastener is a device intended to be implanted that consists of a stiff wire segment or rod made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum and stainless steel, and that may be smooth on the outside, fully or partially threaded, straight or U-shaped; and may be either blunt pointed, sharp pointed, or have a formed, slotted head on the end. It may be used for fixation of bone fractures, for bone reconstructions, as a guide pin for insertion of other implants, or it may be implanted through the skin so that a pulling force (traction) may be applied to the skeletal system.

We have reviewed your Section 510(k) premarket notification of intent to market the device referenced above and have determined the device is substantially equivalent (for the indications for use stated in the enclosure) to legally marketed predicate devices marketed in interstate commerce prior to May 28, 1976, the enactment date of the Medical Device Amendments, or to devices that have been reclassified in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (Act) that do not require approval of a premarket approval application (PMA). You may, therefore, market the device, subject to the general controls provisions of the Act. The basic operational principle of the OsteoFab® Suture Anchors is the same as the predicate: the operating principle of the OsteoFab® Suture Anchors is to fixate/reattach soft tissue to bone.

The technological characteristics of the OsteoFab® Suture Anchor devices are similar to the predicate device in terms of operating principle and intended use. The OsteoFab® Suture Anchors are deployed into a pilot hole using a custom inserter and recommended suture in order to secure soft tissue to bone. Any differences in technological characteristics are summarized below:

# VI. Performance Data
For determination of substantial equivalence, insertion testing, pullout testing, and fatigue testing were performed. Mechanical testing showed that the mechanical strength and function of the subject device is substantially equivalent to the legally marketed predicate device and that it is sufficient for the intended use. A biological safety assessment was also performed that demonstrated that the subject device is biocompatible for long term implantation and substantially equivalent to the legally marketed predicate device.

## VII. Substantial Equivalence Conclusion
This submission supports the position that the subject implants are substantially equivalent to the previously cleared predicate devices. The subject and predicate devices are similar in terms of indications for use, operating principles, technological characteristics, and mechanical strength. There are no significant differences between the subject and predicate device that would affect the safety and effectiveness of the OsteoFab® Suture Anchors. Any differences were not considered significant based on the data provided in this submission.

What does the side-by-side PDF viewer mode do?

6. Collections

7. Product codes and the regulations tree
Click a product code in the results to jump to it in the regulations tree — identification text, sibling product codes, and devices you can open in a PDF viewer on the right. Click a regulation number to see its identification, special controls, and related product codes. You can also search by product code or regulation number at the top of the tree. Always read the special controls if any exist for your device — it broadens your search and sharpens pre-kickoff research.

8. Chart view
Click Show Chart and segment by regulation number (or product code) to see which regulations dominate your result set. Clicking a regulation takes you into the regulations tree. Great for spotting that most matches are, say, hardware laparoscopic devices — a cue to go back and filter.

9. The predicate graph
Open the Predicates tab for a family-tree view of predicate relationships. Click a node to trace its parents and children; selections from search carry over pre-selected. 10. Embeddings: the galaxy map
The Embeddings tab plots every matching document in a 2-D "galaxy map" where semantically similar devices cluster together. Hover or click clusters to explore, and let AI label the clusters for you. Embeddings beat product codes for grouping: two devices can carry different product codes (LLZ vs. QIH) yet do the same thing — the embedding captures the meaning of the intended use and device story. This is also exactly how retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) works under the hood, and it makes a great visual on client calls.
