Indications Lateral Stem The SL-PLUS MIA Laterialzed stem is intended for varus femur forms and trumpet shape of the proximal femur (champagne flute) Hip components are also indicated for inflammatory degenerative joint disease including rheumatoid arthritis, arthritis secondary to a variety of diseases and anomalies, and congenital dysplasia; old, remote osteomyelitis with an extended drainage-free period, in which case, the patient should be warned of an above normal danger of infection postoperatively; treatments of nonunion, femoral neck fracture and trochanteric fractures of the proximal femur with head involvement that are unmanageable using other techniques; endoprosthesis, femoral osteotomy, or Girdlestone resection; fracture-dislocation of the hip; and correction of deformity. These stems are for uncemented use only. These devices are intended to aid the surgeon in relieving the patient of hip pain and restoring hip motion.

Femoral hip prosthesis; uncemented; intended for primary or revision hip arthroplasty. Device consists of forged titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-7Nb) stem with triple-layer coating: two layers of titanium plasma spray and one layer of hydroxyapatite (Ti/HA). Surgeon implants device into femur to replace damaged hip joint; relieves pain; restores motion. Used in clinical/surgical settings. Output is physical structural support for hip joint; aids surgeon in restoring patient mobility. Benefits include relief of hip pain and restoration of joint function.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. Mechanical data indicates the device withstands expected in vivo loading. Surface characterization (physical, chemical, mechanical) of the Ti/HA coating is referenced in Master File MAF-2541.
Technological Characteristics
Materials: Forged titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-7Nb). Coating: Triple-layer (two layers titanium plasma spray, one layer hydroxyapatite) applied by Medicoat AG. Uncemented use only. Standard and lateralized stem geometries available.
Indications for Use
Indicated for patients undergoing primary or revision hip surgery due to trauma, noninflammatory degenerative joint disease (osteoarthritis, avascular necrosis, traumatic arthritis, slipped capital epiphysis, fused hip, pelvic fracture, diastrophic variant), inflammatory degenerative joint disease (rheumatoid arthritis, congenital dysplasia), remote osteomyelitis, nonunion, femoral neck/trochanteric fractures, endoprosthesis, femoral osteotomy, Girdlestone resection, fracture-dislocation, or deformity correction. Lateralized stems indicated for varus femur forms and champagne flute proximal femur shapes. Contraindicated for cemented use.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
A hip joint metal/ceramic/polymer semi-constrained cemented or nonporous uncemented prosthesis is a device intended to be implanted to replace a hip joint. This device limits translation and rotation in one or more planes via the geometry of its articulating surfaces. It has no linkage across-the-joint. The two-part femoral component consists of a femoral stem made of alloys to be fixed in the intramedullary canal of the femur by impaction with or without use of bone cement. The proximal end of the femoral stem is tapered with a surface that ensures positive locking with the spherical ceramic (aluminium oxide, A12 03 ) head of the femoral component. The acetabular component is made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene or ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene reinforced with nonporous metal alloys, and used with or without bone cement.

# Conclusion

1. Search: exact and fuzzy
Type a phrase like "coronary artery calcification" into the search box. You get two kinds of results. Exact results match the literal phrase — prefix searches work ("coronary artery calcificati") but suffix searches do not. Fuzzy results match on the meaning and intent of your phrase rather than the exact words, and are sorted by relevance score. Hover over the Exact or Fuzzy badge on any row to see exactly why it matched.

3. Judging fuzzy relevance
Fuzzy results trail off in relevance as you scroll. Use three signals to decide how far down to go: the fuzzy badge explanations, the intended use column, and whether your target output (e.g., Cobb angle) still appears in the AI Performance sub-table. Once it stops appearing, you're past the relevant zone. A top hit with a low score (~0.4) and a stretched explanation is a hint the closest predicates are far away — the project may be headed for De Novo. Note the fuzzy search is a pattern match: it doesn't handle negation ("not") well, and hardware devices can appear — filter by SaMD/AI ML to cut them.

The visual lineage is also handy on client calls, e.g. to show how a predicate family evolved and justify why your predicate still holds.

10. Embeddings: the galaxy map
The Embeddings tab plots every matching document in a 2-D "galaxy map" where semantically similar devices cluster together. Hover or click clusters to explore, and let AI label the clusters for you. Embeddings beat product codes for grouping: two devices can carry different product codes (LLZ vs. QIH) yet do the same thing — the embedding captures the meaning of the intended use and device story. This is also exactly how retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) works under the hood, and it makes a great visual on client calls.
