Indications for Use

The Kompresa Facet Screw System is indicated for bilateral transfacet fixation and stabilization of the facet joints as an aid to fusion for the treatment of any or all of the following at the T10 to S1 (included) spinal levels: Trauma, including spinal fractures and/or dislocation . Spondylolisthesis . Spondylolysis . Pseudoarthrosis or failed previous fusions which are symptomatic or which may cause secondary instability or deformity . Degenerative disc disease (defined as back pain of discogenic origin with degeneration of the disc confirmed by history and radiographic studies). . Degeneration of the facets with instability .

Device Story

Kompresa Facet Screw System consists of non-sterile, single-use cannulated titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V) screws, nuts, and universal collets. Used by surgeons for bilateral transfacet fixation and stabilization to aid spinal fusion. Instruments are stainless steel or aluminum. Device provides mechanical stabilization of facet joints. No software or electronic components.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Testing included axial pullout and torque to failure (ASTM F543-07), static and dynamic collet/locknut pull-off (ASTM 1798), static three-point bend and dynamic cantilever bend (ASTM F1264-03), and static cantilever bend (ASTM 2193-02).

Technological Characteristics

Materials: Titanium alloy Ti6Al4V (screws, nuts, collets); stainless steel/aluminum (instruments). Principle: Mechanical fixation via cannulated screws and collet/nut locking mechanism. Standards: ASTM F543-07, ASTM 1798, ASTM F1264-03, ASTM 2193-02. Non-sterile, single-use.

Indications for Use

Indicated for patients requiring bilateral transfacet fixation and stabilization as an aid to fusion at spinal levels T10-S1. Conditions include trauma (fractures/dislocation), spondylolisthesis, spondylolysis, pseudoarthrosis/failed fusion, degenerative disc disease, and facet degeneration with instability.
