Indications for Use
For the reconstruction of painful and/or severely disabled shoulder joints resulting from post-traumatic degenerative disease or avascular necrosis. The humeral head and neck and glenoid vault should be of sufficient bone stock to support loading. The rotator cuff should be intact or reconstructable. The device is a single use implant intended to be used with bone cement.
Device Story
GRS™ Glenoid Resurfacing System is a shoulder joint prosthesis component. It interfaces with previously cleared humeral head resurfacing prostheses (K023096) to replace both articular surfaces of the shoulder joint. The device is implanted by a surgeon in a clinical setting using bone cement. It serves as a mechanical replacement for damaged glenoid surfaces, aiming to restore joint function and reduce pain in patients with degenerative disease or avascular necrosis. A shoulder joint metal/polymer semi-constrained cemented prosthesis is a device intended to be implanted to replace a shoulder joint. The device limits translation and rotation in one or more planes via the geometry of its articulating surfaces. It has no linkage across-the-joint. This generic type of device includes prostheses that have a humeral resurfacing component made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum, and a glenoid resurfacing component made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, and is limited to those prostheses intended for use with bone cement (§ 888.3027).
