Indications for Use
Elecsys Anti-TSHR immunoassay: Immunoassay for the in vitro quantitative determination of autoantibodies to TSH receptor in human serum using a human thyroid stimulating monoclonal antibody. The anti-TSH receptor determination is used in the assessment of patients with suspect Graves' disease (autoimmune hyperthyroidism). The electrochemiluminescence immunoassay "ECLIA" is intended for use on Elecsys and cobas e immunoassay analyzers. Elecsys PreciControl ThyroAB is used for quality control of the Elecsys Anti-TSHR immunoassay on the Elecsys and cobas e immunoassay analyzers.
Device Story
The Elecsys Anti-TSHR Immunoassay is an in vitro diagnostic test used to detect autoantibodies to the TSH receptor in human serum. It utilizes a three-step competition principle immunoassay with streptavidin-coated microparticles and electrochemiluminescence (ECLIA) detection. The device is intended for use on Roche Elecsys and cobas e immunoassay analyzers by laboratory professionals. The system generates a calibration curve using a 2-point calibration and a master curve provided via reagent bar code. Results are used by clinicians in conjunction with medical history and other clinical findings to assess patients for Graves' disease. The Elecsys PreciControl ThyroAB is a lyophilized human serum-based control used to monitor assay performance. The device benefits patients by providing a quantitative measurement to aid in the diagnosis of autoimmune hyperthyroidism.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. Performance evaluated via precision studies (within-run and total CVs), analytical sensitivity (LoB, LoD, LoQ), and analytical specificity (interference testing for biotin, heparin, and other thyroid-related antibodies). Method comparison study (n=212) against the predicate showed correlation with Passing/Bablok regression (y = 1.183x - 0.316) and high positive/negative agreement.
Technological Characteristics
Three-step competition immunoassay; electrochemiluminescence (ECLIA) detection; streptavidin-coated microparticles; human serum matrix; lyophilized controls/calibrators; standardized against NIBSC 1st IS 90/672; compatible with Elecsys and cobas e series analyzers.
Indications for Use
Indicated for the quantitative determination of TSH receptor autoantibodies in human serum to assist in the assessment of patients with suspected Graves' disease (autoimmune hyperthyroidism). For prescription use only.

Identification
A thyroid autoantibody immunological test system is a device that consists of the reagents used to measure by immunochemical techniques the thyroid autoantibodies (antibodies produced against the body's own tissues). Measurement of thyroid autoantibodies may aid in the diagnosis of certain thyroid disorders, such as Hashimoto's disease (chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis), nontoxic goiter (enlargement of thyroid gland), Grave's disease (enlargement of the thyroid gland with protrusion of the eyeballs), and cancer of the thyroid.
