Device Story

EZLoc™ Femoral Fixation Device is a soft tissue anchor for orthopedic reconstruction; used for fixation of tendons and ligaments during ACL reconstruction. Device components include body, arm, passing pin, and pull suture. Implant available in multiple diameters (5-10mm) and lengths (15-35mm) to accommodate varying graft diameters and femoral tunnel lengths. Packaged with #2 polyethylene suture; compatible with other legally marketed nonresorbable sutures. Used by surgeons in clinical/OR settings to secure grafts during reconstruction. Provides mechanical fixation to facilitate healing and joint stability.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data provided as a basis for substantial equivalence. Substantial equivalence supported by non-clinical laboratory testing.

Technological Characteristics

Metallic bone fixation fastener. Components: body, arm, passing pin, pull suture. Materials: non-degradable. Sizing: 5-10mm diameters, 15-35mm lengths. Compatible with #2 polyethylene or other nonresorbable sutures. Mechanical fixation principle.

Indications for Use

Indicated for fixation of tendons and ligaments during orthopedic reconstruction procedures, specifically Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A smooth or threaded metallic bone fixation fastener is a device intended to be implanted that consists of a stiff wire segment or rod made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum and stainless steel, and that may be smooth on the outside, fully or partially threaded, straight or U-shaped; and may be either blunt pointed, sharp pointed, or have a formed, slotted head on the end. It may be used for fixation of bone fractures, for bone reconstructions, as a guide pin for insertion of other implants, or it may be implanted through the skin so that a pulling force (traction) may be applied to the skeletal system.
