Indications for Use

The RITA® Clips are used with Harvard 2 Syringe Pump to increase the syringe holding capacity of the Pump from two to five syringes to allow one Harvard 2 Syringe Pump to supply local delivery of saline through multiple irrigation ports of one RITA® Electrosurgical Device of the RITA® System. The RITA® System is intended for use in percutaneous, laparoscopic, or intraoperative coagulation and ablation of soft tissue, including the partial or complete ablation of non-resectable liver lesions.

Device Story

RITA Clips are a mechanical syringe holder accessory for the Harvard 2 Syringe Pump; increases capacity from two to five 20-cc syringes. Used in clinical settings (percutaneous, laparoscopic, or intraoperative) by physicians to facilitate saline irrigation during soft tissue coagulation and ablation procedures using the RITA Electrosurgical Device. The device does not contact the patient. It enables the delivery of saline through multiple irrigation ports of the electrosurgical device, supporting the ablation of soft tissue lesions.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Testing verified flow rate and alarm function of the Harvard 2 Syringe Pump when equipped with RITA Clips. No patient contact occurs; no biocompatibility testing required.

Technological Characteristics

Mechanical syringe holder accessory; accommodates five 20-cc syringes. Designed for use with the Harvard 2 Syringe Pump. No electrical components or software. Non-patient contacting.

Indications for Use

Indicated for patients requiring percutaneous, laparoscopic, or intraoperative coagulation and ablation of soft tissue, including non-resectable liver lesions, where saline irrigation is delivered via the RITA Electrosurgical Device.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

An infusion pump is a device used in a health care facility to pump fluids into a patient in a controlled manner. The device may use a piston pump, a roller pump, or a peristaltic pump and may be powered electrically or mechanically. The device may also operate using a constant force to propel the fluid through a narrow tube which determines the flow rate. The device may include means to detect a fault condition, such as air in, or blockage of, the infusion line and to activate an alarm.
